Every Jewish community destroyed in the Holocaust deserves to be remembered.
Every Jewish community destroyed in the Holocaust deserves to rest with dignity.
As their offspring, it is our responsibility to ensure this happens.
The Jewish community of Działoszyce, Poland was once a proud and vibrant community. When World War II arrived, it not only claimed the lives of the living, but even the peaceful rest of the dead. To this day, the local Jewish cemetery remains abandoned and decimated, it is a virtual forest. Multiple mass graves of those brutally murdered near the cemetery remain unmarked. In town, what was once a beautiful synagogue lies in ruins. As their descendants, we need your help to fix this now.
We are a group of second and third-generation descendants of the Jewish community of Działoszyce, Poland, who wish to give our ancestors and their families the final honor they rightfully deserve.
With each passing year, time is running out, as our children and grandchildren will know less and less about the community from which they came. At the same time, our ancestors' memory and final resting place will continue to disappear into oblivion if we don't act now.
To that end, we have three primary goals:
- To discover and mark the multiple mass graves of those murdered in Działoszyce during the Holocaust.
- To mark the boundaries of the Jewish cemetery so that it will forever be preserved as such.
- To preserve to the extent possible the remains of what was once a most beautiful and impressive synagogue in Działoszyce.
